The Honey Ants are Rebecca Hamer and John Grímsey. The duo formed in London, England back in the spring of 2013 and have since built a reputation on the London live circuit for their knock-out shows.
Their unique sound, built around exquisite bittersweet harmonies, has developed from its folk roots into something much more complex and dark – elements of Southern gospel and country blend with London attitude.
To date they've seen support from Music Week, Record of the Day, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, CBC Radio 2 (Canada), WFUV (New York) and Amazing Radio amongst others.
2016 saw them back and forth to Nashville, co-writing with internationally renowned local songwriters. 2017 will see the fruits of these trips in the form of their debut EP "Atlanticana", with the Grammy-winning Dom Morley on production duties.
The Honey Ants are supported by PRS Foundation’s International Showcase Fund, which is run by PRS Foundation in partnership with Department of International Trade (DIT), British Underground, Arts Council England, The Musicians’ Union (MU), PPL, Creative Scotland and the Musicians’ Union (MU) in association with PledgeMusic.
